Report on Seniors Qualifiers

13 January 2014

Andrew Kerr sends us this report.

"Billy (Howat) with Rab Clark and Gavin Morton qualified up at Forfar with 3 wins and just the one loss. They had already secured their place in the finals before losing a tight game on Sunday to Ken Horton's rink.

Ayr ice rink hosted the other Playdowns with a huge commitment by Brian and his team to ensure that the ice was up to the standard expected. A very big thank you is due to our local umpires, Joyce and Ron Tosh and chief umpire, Jim Murdoch for ensuring that the games went smoothly and indeed, everyone involved pulled out all the stops so that we received nothing but compliments.

The ice rink had a great " buzz" all weekend with a good number of spectators enjoying the curling. Local interest saw Robert Anderson qualifying for the finals with Keith Prentice's rink of former Seniors' winners. Andrew Kerr, playing in Jim Cullen's rink finished with two wins and three losses and Euan Lawrence, called in to play for Ian Young's Forfar rink, won one and lost three.

Good luck to Billy, Rab, Gavin and Robert for the finals at Hamilton on the 5th to 9th of next month."
