Three rinks headed off to Hamilton yesterday intent on retaining the Willie Johnston Trophy. Jim Boswell's rink of John Davers, Paul Meehan and James Galloway lost narrowly to a Lanarkshire rink skipped by Arthur Devine but the other two Ayrshire rinks won. Gavin Morton with Gemmill Jack, Tom Neil and Robert White had a good win against Bob Parry but not quite good enough to stop Hubert Ireland's "Last of the Summer Wine" rink of Andrew Kerr, Andy Eccles and John McLeod bringing the trophy back to Ayr after a convincing win against Archie Kerr's Avondale Heather and Lesmahagow combined team.
As usual, we enjoyed excellent hospitality from our Lanarkshire hosts.
