Message from Jean Morton, President Ayr CC

Dear fellow curler

I am honoured to become the first female president of ACC but so wish it were in different circumstances. As a committee we have been so busy dealing with everything that is going on, that I realise some people feel a "little out of it" and don't know what is happening and I apologise if you do feel like that and please if you feel you need more information please do not hesitate to call me.

I just want to update all members of where we are at present.

It looks like the ice rink will go into voluntary liquidation on 26/09/23 unless a knight in shining armour comes to our rescue. We will not have access to the building after that date. All items we as a club wish to keep must be removed and there are still some items available to good homes- tables and chairs, trophy cabinet, a small amount of move-able stones at the car park entrance( most are built in) bar and kitchen items- please get in touch if you/your family/ another club can make use of these.

ACC is going to continue, all be it without a home and we will be looking at all the options of sourcing/ building a new home and will operate like any other curling club offering games to their members.

We have at present organised RCCC competitions I.e Morton and Henderson Bishop, Maxwell  see link below

https://www.scottishcurling.org/comps/

If anyone does not understand how these work and wish to play in them please contact

For Ladies comps: Margaret White/Mara Lindsay
For men's comps:  Jean Morton / Andrew Baird

We are still organising our inter-cities  and please if you have never played in these but wish to please contact myself, Andrew Baird and Lisa Mason - they are a great days Curling and lovely way to see other ice rinks and meet people.

We will undertake to organise social events I.e bonspiels, Quiz nights, burns supper but would welcome you thoughts of what you would like to continue and support? Please let us know

I will in a week or so follow this email with a questionnaire please take the time to think about what you would like and then reply to the questionnaire with what that is.

Details of new the membership will be emailed out once we have our new bank account, but it will be a little later than usual. If you do not wish to remain a member you could let Charlie Steele know and he can begin to update the system but we are hoping that many of you will remain members and support ACC as we go forward

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the committee for more information

yours in curling

Jean Morton president
